COMMUNITY: Design a mascot 2015

Sussex County Cricket Club | 19th August, 2015

Sussex County Cricket Club have recently held the 2015 design a mascot competition, the aims of the challenge is open to children of all age and the theme is overall and cricket.

This year’s theme was Australia (Ashes) and we ended up with over 500 entries. Of those 500, we selected the Top 5 designs to win a prize for both themselves and the school. The designs showcased a variety of colours, shapes, sizes and ideas, ranging from the bizarre to the world of fantasy, but each one was unique and individual.

The top 5 were -
5th - Matthew McConaghue - "Ayres Rock Massive"
4th Josie Henshaw - "Oz-Ball"
3rd - Sid Gostling - "Sydney"
2nd - James Bayly - "Australian Andy"
1st - Katie Guntrip – “Colourful Crocodile”

Our winner Katie, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven school in Crawley who produced a fantastic, colourful crocodile based design, that highlighted both Cricket and the Australian theme. She had clearly put time, effort and thought into the design and both her Dad and sister, were on hand at the school assembly to watch Katie receive her prizes.

The prizes included new Newbery Cricket bat, mini Cricket bat and ball, Sussex CCC wristband, Champions sticker, four tickets to a Sussex 1st XI match and a whole school County roadshow for all school friends in September.

Well done to all involved!
