De-Ionised Water
Deionised water is water that has had almost all its mineral ions removed which includes calcium, sodium, iron, copper and chloride. It should not be confused with demineralised water which is water that has had its minerals and contaminants removed
- Although deionised water has had most of its ions removed, it cannot be classed as entirely pure
- The main uses are n acid and alkaline batteries and flushing and topping up car cooling systems
- Deionised water has a wide range of applications including labatories and pharmaceutical environments to prepare chemicals and mixtures
- Deionised water is also used to test certain substances for specific compounds
