Accredited medium voltage installer training was recently carried out by Technical Training Manager, Chris Brown at our dedicated facility in the Midlands.
This course, and all accredited courses offered by Jointing Tech, was designed by Chris to meet the candidates’ unique training needs. Chris has 45 years’ experience in the power industry, he is accredited to train on a wide range of joints and terminations and is the only UK based Trainer approved by TE to train on their 145kv High Voltage Accessories.
Training modules for the course included:
Installation of rain skirts/sheds which provide greater creepage lengths to limit the lengths of the terminations.
The application of S1085 red sealing mastic, this provides a solid resin moisture block on the outside of the support ring between the copper wire screens and the earth continuity aluminium cage (where cable sheaths had been degreased, abraded & awaiting flame brushing).
Application of S1085 red sealing mastic around the exposed aluminium sheath, creating an effective bonding surface for both aluminium and the filling medium.

11kv 3 Core Polymeric / 3 Core Paper Transitional Straight joints & 11kv 3 Core Trifurcating PICAS to Single Core Triplex Cable Joint.
