Sussex County Cricket Club paid tribute to both Matt Prior and Michael Yardy last weekend, with the pair having both retired from cricket this season.
Members, supporters, players, coaches and staff gathered in a packed Focus Group Boundary Rooms to celebrate the careers of two legends of Sussex and England cricket.
Prior scored nearly 8,000 runs in 146 matches for Sussex. His final appearance for his county came in the 175th anniversary match with Nottinghamshire in 2014. In all, he has amassed over 13,000 first-class runs, as well as over 5,000 in List A cricket. During his career, he became one of the country's greatest ever wicket keeper batsmen.
Yardy has played 182 first-class matches for Sussex, scoring almost 10,000 runs in the process, whilst his 166 List A games for the County have yielded over 3,000 runs and more than 100 wickets. He has now played 101 T20 matches, scoring over 1,000 runs and taking 77 wickets. Both players represented England with great success, and were integral parts of Sussex's 'Golden Era.'
The evening also incorporated the End of Season Awards, with two gongs being handed out. Luke Wright was named Sussex's Player of the Year, as he passed 1,000 runs in LV=County Championship cricket for the first time, and also scored his first-class best as hit an unbeaten 226 against Worcestershire at New Road. He is seen below receiving his award from Sussex's Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson.
And the Young Player of the Year Award went to Ollie Robinson. The 21 year-old burst onto the scene making a century on his LV=CC debut at Durham and went on to take 46 wickets in his debut season. He was presented with his award by Sussex skipper Ed Joyce.
